PERFORMANCE PRODUCT MANAGER
International company are seeking to recruit an experienced Product Manager (outdoor footwear business). Based Essex
This position is to be the key driver of the company's performance outdoor products. You will manage the outdoor performance products on a global level for the brand and will report to the Category Director. You will have a solid understanding of the outdoor portion of the footwear business - experience in outdoor/footwear industry is essential
Experience in such a capacity working on performance footwear is a major requirement, as they work to upgrade their performance credentials.
A global scope of experience is necessary in order to service the largest segments of their business coming from the USA/UK/Europe. Briefs will be written and implemented by the Performance Manager, with ongoing follow up during the development process.
Implementing the development calendar is an important part of building up the efficiency and discipline needed to succeed in product. The individual will interface with many aspects of their business; sales, marketing, sourcing, design and development.
During year one, potential travel to global launches, Far East factories and Line Close meetings will be the key drivers.
Once experience is gained, travel could go up to 40%, being made up of travel to trade shows, key accounts, and other market launches.
A balance of creativity, communication skills, administration skills and presentation skills are needed
Creativity will be driven by approaching the briefs from a consumer viewpoint, while deploying internal resources such as design/development.
Communication skills are necessary to keep all functions (sales/marketing/sources etc) and team members of the process in the loop. Presentation skills will be needed to present the products developed to internal and external customers.
Learning the costing process will also be a part of the role, in the early phases however, the Director will confirm all prices.
Time management skills are key, as various tasks will be juggled simultaneously. Knowledge and skillful use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook are required. Knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator would be an advantage.
