Essex 4296: Our client seeks an experienced cook with an enhanced CRB check in place for an assignment within the catering department of its parks and green spaces division.

We are acting for an Essex based local authority

The post will be located at an outdoor learning centre in Danbury, CM3 and will be for 36 hpw, Mon-Fri, shift working with earliest start 6AM, latest finish 7PM.

This is anticipated to be, initially at least, a 1 month assignment.

Please note that under a special arrangement we have with a leading umbrella company, temps who elect to get paid under this route will receive, in addition to a higher hourly rate of pay, the following benefits which are not available under PAYE:

Essence of role:

• To provide assistance with preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages to the required standard.

• To follow menu plans agreed with the Facilities Co-ordinator

• To deputise for the Facilities Co-ordinator in their absence as appropriate.

• To assist the Facilities Co-ordinator with the preparation of menu plans as appropriate.

• To occasionally assist with special functions which may be outside of normal working hours.

• To carry out cleaning duties within the kitchen and dining areas as required.

• Control of hygiene and heath and safety in the kitchen and other domestic areas

• Ordering of relevant supplies and stock control

• Maintain health and safety standards for all domestic staff areas

• Maintain standards in domestic areas for the comfort and well being of staff and customers

• To order materials and equipment as necessary and to keep records of orders placed and maintain budgetary records as required.


Candidate requirements (*below indicates a requirement that must be CLEARLY EVIDENT FROM YOUR CV, not just your covering letter, to avoid auto-rejection by client):

*UK experience as a (paid!) cook

*Enhanced CRB check issued within past 12 months

*Food hygiene/preparation certification
