| Graduate & Experienced Project Engineer REF: LH003131 Location: Hertfordshire & Leicestershire Salary: Competitive package Our client are looking to fill various Project Engineer vacancies in order to provide design appraisal and consultancy services in the area of oil and gas pipelines in the UK and overseas. They provide technical solutions to clients worldwide, and applicants need to be ambitious, self reliant and demonstrate the aptitude and flexibility to carry out a broad range of engineering tasks on pipelines / above ground facilities - from FEED to commissioning & handover. Reporting to the appropriate sector Project Manager within the Engineering Division, the main responsibilities are as follows: • Provide appropriate engineering designs in accordance with relevant company, client, national and international standards. Ensure good engineering practices are maintained. • Provide project management and financial control from initial approval through to commissioning and handover • Provide written and verbal presentations of progress reporting on all allocated projects • Ensure agreed man-hour and cost targets are adhered to through effective project and financial control. Seek to enhance project fee and scope where possible • Prepare project plans and programmes to ensure work is carried out in accordance with copmpany procedures to the client’s satisfaction • Prepare technical reports and studies for clients in accordance with company procedures. • Prepare contract documentation for procurement of services and materials • Evaluate tenders and provide recommendations for contract award • Manage contracts and authorise invoices within allocated financial authority for payment. • Maintain good client relationships to help secure continuing business. There may be a requirement for the engineer filling this position to work in client or designers offices for temporary periods. CANDIDATE PROFILE The successful candidates will be suitably academically qualified and have a wish to work in the upstream and downstream oil and gas pipeline or facilities/infrastructure sectors. Candidates will be problem solvers with an eye for detail. They will be self starters and be able to interpret management direction and actions. Presentation and communication skills / PC skills are a must along with the ability to interpret financial information and able to asses risk in contract terms. KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Higher formal qualifications i.e. engineering degree or HND (Honours Degree or M. Eng in a recognised Engineering discipline preferred) • Knowledge of design and analysis or construction of onshore pipelines or associated above ground facilities and depots • Proven ability in working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment • Computer literate in normal office software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and specialist applications as necessary • Persuasive and customer focused, able to work tight deadlines and under pressure • Some overseas travel may be required therefore flexibility to spend periods away from the UK will be required • Valid UK driving licence Desirable attributes: • Further qualifications and direct experience in pipelines or facilities • Direct experience of the petrochemical or utilities industry preferred • Project Management organisation and delivery skills • Ability to demonstrate effective supervisory experience • Pipeline operations experience would be beneficial • Experience of latest design techniques • Experience of specialist software such as AutoCAD If you have the necessary skills and experience to apply for this vacancy please send an up to date CV today, or call our office for further information.
