| Our Client is a well known name who are not a mass producer of insurance policies but focus on key areas of expertise and strength. The role An excellent opportunity to get in at the beginning of an exciting period of growth and expansion. This role is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave but has the potential to become a permanent position as the requirements for our Direct Commercial product portfolio increase. Direct Commercial has a very high profile as one of our Clients top strategic objectives in the UK is to maintain their strong growth while making a profit in the second half of 2008. To achieve this, a fine balance between appropriate underwriting control and a customer centric offer must be maintained. The proposition is being launched in May 2008 to improve the customer experience and drive this growth. The period immediately after this launch is critical to achieve these growth and profit ambitions. This role will cover a key period as a Third Party contact centre is launched, the role will then go on to identify and develop additional products in order to develop our portfolio of Direct Commercial business. Key responsibilities Owner of underwriting for all DC products. Driving pricing strategy, changes to underwriting approach and cover. Responsibility for loss ratio performance. Working closely with sales executives to provide product training and referral underwriters to manage risk decisions. Auditing sales and underwriting processes. Working with internal Departments to develop and implement enhancements to the offer. Leading the benchmarking of our competitors and develop thorough knowledge of the direct commercial market. Key requirements • Progress towards ACII, if not qualified • A proven track record in technical underwriting, with experience in commercial business. • Strong account analysis and numeracy skills. • Ability to build positive and productive relationships, has a “can do” attitude. • Product development experience is also preferred This is a fantastic opportunity to join during a time of focused growth where you will have the remit to make a real difference.
