A leading specialist insurer covering a diverse portfolio of personal and commercial risks and market leader in their chosen areas of business, has an exciting opportunity to become a Household Underwriter for unusual and often complicated insurance needs.
The volume of business is rising rapidly and career opportunities are excellent should the individuals demonstrate the skills and success in their respective roles.
Using market leading internet technology in dealing with underwriting referrals from Brokers, you will underwrite business in order to meet agreed service standards and key performance objectives.
Key responsibilities
•Initially training to underwrite Household cover.
• Dealing quickly and efficiently with a large volume of technical new business cases and renewal referrals
• Daily interaction with wide Broker base to convert business and to deal with queries.
• Regular meetings/discussions with all the Regional offices
• Many opportunities to take ownership of projects (new underwriting “schemes”, process reviews etc)
• Helping to delegate simple underwriting tasks and administration to assistant underwriters
• Progressing through the Underwriter passport and training schedule
Key requirements
• Experience of working in insurance ideally in personal lines broking or underwriting, exceptional graduates will be considered without insurance experience.
• The ability to develop a thorough personal lines technical underwriting knowledge and then make accurate, clear underwriting decisions
• Excellent telephone manner and inter-personal skills to develop close rapport with Brokers
• Potential to develop good conversion and sales skills .
• Applicants must demonstrate a high level of drive and enthusiasm
• The role is likely to evolve very quickly as the team expands and candidates must demonstrate a willingness and ability to cross-train on other product lines
