Work life balance
At Colchester Borough Council, and Colchester Borough Homes Ltd we recognise that employees wish to achieve a work/life balance, and the following initiatives help to support this aim, by treating each employee as an individual.

Flex Time
Allows flexibility in start and finish times, in line with the needs of the service, to allow employees more control over their working day. Extra hours worked are banked for future use. Core hours are 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.

Flexible working
There are a number of options for flexible working away from the flexi time scheme. These include short days, term time working and flexibility on how days and hours are worked.
If an employee wishes to exercise their right under flexible working rights, this should be put to your manager, however, managers are always willing to discuss an employees needs with you, whilst taking into account the needs of the service.

Job Share
Job sharing is an arrangement whereby two, or possibly more, employees share the responsibilities of one full time position, with the salary, annual leave and other terms and conditions divided between them according to the time each works

Homeworking
We have a home working policy that allows staff to work from home on a regular or occasional basis, dependant on the needs of the service. If this is something that interests you please discuss this with your manager.

Special Leave
Special leave is leave that is awarded to employees outside of their normal leave entitlement and can be paid or unpaid, according to the circumstances.
